Kai Schluessler Master Craftsman
Artist Décor specialise in the delivery of High-Quality interior surfaces for private residential and commercial restaurants, and hotels.
I have become a Master Craftsmen with over 10 years’ experience in 5 different companies spanning across Europe and New Zealand. The inspiration from my work is born from the design and art from Europe, and combined with my knowledge of up-to-date techniques, materials and tools, I can create unique feature walls with a personal signature.
I always say nothing is impossible, that’s why I work with my clients to provide colour advice, design, tips and hints to deliver a solution that meets your design goals.
I pride myself on my reliability, professional appearance and keen eye for detail, ensuring every little detail is considered.
I am a qualified Master Craftsman Qualification of Germany, equivalent to NZQA Level 7. My leadership at my previous employer also helped achieve Master Painter Awards for their company.

After starting my apprenticeship as a painter at the age of 19 in Germany, my outstanding practical and theoretical abilities enabled me to finish the 3-year qualification in just 2 years.
Following my apprenticeship, I went to university to study 14 months full-time as a Master Craftsman and leading to my first professional work primarily servicing private residential clients.
My professional experience with my first employer allowed me to practice and perfect my skills in wallpapering and special surface techniques as well as normal painting work. Afterwards, I went on to work for a marble plastering manufacturer in Bocholt, Germany, providing me with experience with working with a variety of different wall surfaces.
From Germany, I continued working internationally in the Netherlands, Belgium and a cruise-liner ‘AIDA’, before arriving in New Zealand and starting work with Paul Schirnack Decorating Ltd, who achieved the award of “New Zealand Master Painter of the Year’ in my first year with the company.

Introducing Artist Décor
After 3 years with my previous company as foreman and leading hand, I followed my dream of opening my own company.
With over 10-years’ experience in different fields of painting and decorating I established Artist Décor Limited in January 2019.
As a Director and Tradesman, I look forward to working with new and existing clients to deliver High-Quality interiors to Auckland and New Zealand.
